In July 2026, we will embark on the Masterreise to South Korea, where we will gain exciting insights into urban development, architecture, infrastructure and culture.

Our trip will begin in Seoul, where we will get to know the dynamic capital city with its contrasts between state-of-the-art architecture, innovative mobility concepts and centuries-old traditions. In addition to exploring topics such as smart cities and public transport, we will also experience Korean pop culture and the special situation at the demilitarised zone on the border with North Korea.

Another item on the agenda is a visit to the city of Songdo near Seoul. This city is considered an architectural masterpiece and is known as one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the world, with an underground waste management system and buildings constructed to LEED standards.

We will then take the express train to Gyeongju, the former capital of the Silla Dynasty. There we will find important temples, historic burial mounds and traditional villages that provide a deep insight into the cultural roots of the country.

The next stages take us to Busan, South Korea’s second largest city. Here we will discover the lively atmosphere on the beaches and markets, the cultural diversity in the colourful neighbourhoods and the historical dimension at the coastal temple Haedong Yonggungsa. A coastal drive will also give us a special view of the city and its maritime infrastructure.

Finally, we will spend two days on Jeju Island, which, with its volcanic landscapes, waterfalls and beaches, offers a striking contrast to the urban impressions. A hike in Hallasan National Park and visits to traditional villages round off our programme.
